Filtering Sediment & Chemicals - Insecticides etc
The requirements for filtering rainwater are significantly different to those for filtering chlorinated mains water supplies. Mains water filters are designed to take advantage of the chlorine content of the incoming water supply to control bacteria that might otherwise multiply in the filter system. As there is no chlorine in rainwater, there is increased potential for bacteria to multiply in filters that are not specifically designed to control microbiological activity. For this reason drinking water purifiers that perform well in chlorinated water supplies may not be suitable for filtering rainwater.

Now there's a solution to the problem. Waterways can now offer high performance chemicals reduction filtration with exceptional microbiological control.

Through ongoing research and development Waterways has developed a quality high performance bacteriastatic filtration system that is designed specifically for use with rainwater. Our Filtration Plus FP1S filter removes high percentages of insecticides, pesticides and many other water borne chemicals and contaminants while at the same time preventing bacteria from multiplying within the filter cartridge.

Filtration Plus FP1S is a non cellulose silver impregnated modified carbon block drinking water cartridge. Silver is “bacteriastatic”. It controls bacteria levels within the filter making the FP1S cartridge the ideal choice for rainwater applications. In waters with higher sediment loadings we recommend the use of a sediment reduction pre-filter.

Filtration Plus FP1S fits all standard 10” filter housings and is offered with Waterways’ unique service backup.

Killing Bacteria
Ultraviolet light effectively kills high percentages of bacteria in un-disinfected water supplies - rain and bore waters etc. UV systems neither add to nor detract from taste and odour and because of this are frequently used in the manufacture of water based foods, drinks and beverages etc. UV systems are designed to be installed after water filters without which UV light transmission may be compromised. They are simply to use and easy to maintain.

Waterways' Ultraviolet light water disinfection systems fit neatly on the top of the water filter bracket. They are constructed from stainless steel with quartz inner tubing and lamp assemblies. A 240 volts power point is required.

pH
Rainwater frequently exhibits low (acidic) pH with resulting possible copper corrosion and other health related issues. Waterways offers a range of calcite pH correction systems for either whole of house or drinking water applications.
